「Ibasyo: Women’s Empowerment and Healing through Expression」

Equal rights for women does not automatically grant equality and "ibasho" for women in our patriarchal society. In this event we will present women working in theater, academia and politics to share how they have found healing and female empowerment through changing the narrative themselves.

*Ibasyo: in the words of the KYOTOGRAPHIE 2019 exhibiting artist Kosuke Okahara, it means physical or emotional state where a person can exist and feel comfortable and at peace.

Rebecca Jennison
Rebecca Jennison teaches courses on literature, art and gender in the Department of Humanities at Kyoto Seika University. She is co-organizer (with Fran Lloyd) of the “Art of Intervention: Critical Enquiries into Private and Public Memory” (2012), co-editor (with Laura Hein) of Imagination without Borders: Feminist Artist Tomiyama Taeko and Social Responsibility (2010), and co-translator (with Brett de Bary) of Still Hear the Wound: Toward an Asia, Politics and Art to Come (ed. by Lee Chonghwa, 2015). Her recent articles include, "Precarity, Performance, and Activism in Recent Works by Ito Tari and Yamashiro Chikako," in Performance, Feminism and Affect in Neoliberal Times (Palgrave, 2017)

Mais aussi Simone de Beauvoir, Gisèle Halimi et tant d’autres, journalistes, artistes, écrivaines… »
