Please join Albert Watson and the curator François Cheval as they discuss and present Watson’s long and illustrious career. In this engaing event vistors will gain insight into the world of Albert Watson.

The world manufactured by Albert Watson is a pure creation. He incarnates old and immemorial themes in images. Filled with fallen angels, indeterminate creatures, and strange horizons, yet always exotic, this world has a certain beauty. We must examine the in-between like a series of mirages.

Albert Watson
Albert Watson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1942. His expressive photographic portraits of famous celebrities, from Alfred Hitchcock to Steve Jobs, continue to dazzle. Albert’s photographs have appeared on the cover of Vogue more than 100 times worldwide and have been featured in countless other prominent publications, such as Rolling Stone, Time, and Harper’s Bazaar. For over 40 years, his striking photographs and stunning hand-made prints have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the globe. He was chosen as one of the twenty most influential photographers by Photo District News, and has won numerous honors, including a Grammy, a Lucie Award, the ANDY Award (thrice), and the Hasselblad Masters Award.

François Cheval
François Cheval was born in 1954 and has a background in history and ethnology. He has served as a museum curator since 1982, initially in the Jura and the Réunion before being named director of the muse Nicéphore Niépce in Chalon-sur-Saône in 1996. Cheval strives to rid photography of its old presumptions and to resent photographic originality through new forms of museology and revitalized discourse. Most significantly, he has both curated noteworthy retrospectives of photographers such as Denis Roche, John Batho, Gérard Collin-Thiébaut, Peter Knapp, Mac Adams, and Raoul Coutard, and has been a resolute champion of emerging photographers such as Elina Brotherus, JH Engström, Claire Chevrier, Antoine d’Agata, Charles Fréger, and Raphaël Dallaporta. This year The Red Eye is nominated to be artistic directors of the next "Circulation(s)" edition, a photographic festival which promote emergent European photography in Paris.
