Join us to learn more about Kyoto's Kamogawa River, and how the Fisherman Association has been protecting it. Meet with the President of the association Kenji Sawa at Bukkoji Park. Participants will have the oppertunity to release the baby ayu fish supporting the ecology of the river.

Naoyuki Ogino
Photographer. Born in Tokyo, raised in Mexico, currently living in Kyoto. He graduated from Nagoya University, Faculty of Science Department of Physics. He won the Grand prix of 1st Japan Photographer's Union Competition. His themes are "Life of the Mongoloid-cultural bloc", "Power of IMO (Shakti)" and "Inbetween". In One house at Kyoto's Hanamachi district (a Japanese Geisha district), he kept taking photographs of Geiko's and Maiko's dailylife for over 18 years. The published photo-books are "A Geisha's Journey" (English version), "komomo" (Japanese version), "Mon journal de geisha" (French version). KYOTOGRAPHIE Official Photographer. Kenji Sawa
Professional Ayu Fisherman. Born in Kyoto. At the age of 38, he became the youngest President of the Kamogawa Fisherman Association. Director of the "京の川の恵みを活かす会", an association for the protection of Kyoto rivers. He ranked 3rd at the "Ayu Tournament", a national ayu fishing competition sponsored by the Japanese Fishing Technical Association (JFT). He has been fishing the ayu for 40 years. He also appeared on Kansai TV shows such as "横山由依がはんなり巡る京都いろどり日記" (Yokoyama Yui (AKB48) ga Hannari Meguru Kyoto Irodori Nikki) and Yomiuri TV (ytv) "かんさい情報ネットten." (Kansai Jouhou net ten.). Besides fishing ayu, his hobbies include trout mountain stream fishing, carp and squid fishing.
